Technical clearing at Co Ma Tunnel, groundbreaking Cu Mong tunnel
The Ministry of traffic and transportation in coordination with Deo Ca JSC organized the ceremony of technical clearing Co Ma tunnel, Ca Pass tunnel project.
The project of Co Ma pass has the total investment capital of 748 billion dongs. Co Ma tunnel consists of two tunnel pile 30 meters apart, each pipe is 9.75m wide with two lanes each direction. The tunnel is synchronously equipped with modern facilities to serve the exploitation process. So far, after more than 2 years since the commencing date, Co Ma tunnel has been completed, 2 months ahead of the deadline. The event of technical clearing at Co Ma Pass and connection of phase 1 of Ca Pass Tunnel project with the project of upgrading, expanding the National Avenue 1 creates favorable conditions for traffic in the Southern region of Phu Yen province and Northern region of Khanh Hoa province.
On the same day, at Suoi Mo region in Bui Thi Xuan ward, Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province, the Ministry of traffic and transportation organized the groundbreaking ceremony for constructing Cu Mong tunnel, belonging to the project of tunnel past Ca Pass. Cu Mong tunnel is 2.6km long with the total investment of nealry 4,000 billion dongs. The tunnel is between the two provinces of Binh Dinh and Phu Yen, with the starting point connecting with the national avenue at km1239+119 (Binh Dinh province), the ending point connecting with the national avenue 1 at km 1247+739 (Phu Yen province). In the first phase of this work, the investors are going to construct two parallel tunnel pipe, 30 meters apart with the width of each pipe being 9.75m; among which one tunnel pipe is used to exploit two directions (one direction for one lane), the remaining tunnel pipe is used for shelter. In the second phase (estimated after the year 2040), the remaining tunnel pipe is going to be completed to exploit each of the tunnel with two lanes for each direction. After being completed, Cu Mong tunnel is going to considerably improve the traffic situations in the national avenue part between Binh Dinh and Phu Yen, making contributions to promoting socio-eco development in Southern Binh Dinh and Northern Phu Yen as well as other adjacent regions.

Addressing at the ceremony, deputy Minister of Traffic and transportation, Mr. Nguyen Van The, highly commended and awarded the efforts made by the investors as well as executing units in ensuring the rate of constructing process for Co Ma tunnel; simultaneously requiring Deo Ca joint stock Company to continue urgently completing the remaining parts of Co Ma tunnel, speeding up the rate of process for executing the tunnel past Ca Pass so as to complete the entire project as to the commitments made with the ministry of traffic and transportation. At the ceremony of groundbreaking Cu Mong tunnel, Mr. Nguyen Van The required the main investors and contractors to execute the works in a scientific way, ensuring the rate of progress within 3 years, so as to soon put the work into exploitation, use to contributions to complete the crucial traffic system of the nation. The provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen need to create the best conditions for the task of site clearance to complete the project on schedule.
